Fire on the Prairie is a radio forum exploring politics and ideas with progressive writers, thinkers and activists, sponsored by In These Times. Fire on the Prairie features interviews, commentary and reporting on local and national issues, including foreign policy, labor, activism, the environment and the media.
From October 2003 to July 2006 Aaron Sarver and Emily Udell produced and hosted the half-hour monthly show, which aired on WLUW, WHPK and WMXM in Chicago. The broadcast version of the show is currently on hiatus, but interviews will continue to be added to the site.Since its inception, Fire on the Prairie has been co-produced and co-anchored by Aaron Sarver and Emily Udell.

Emily Udell is a staff writer for the Daily Southtown, a newspaper serving the southwest Chicago metropolitan area. Emily has worked as a reporter for the Associated Press in Indianapolis and for Radio Prague in the Czech Republic. She was a field researcher for the Independent Press Association of Chicago, an editorial associate at Punk Planet and advertising director at In These Times. Emily holds a bachelors degree from the University of Chicago and a masters from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, where she studied as a McCormick Tribune scholar.
